The 2nd Conference of People’s Procuracy of provinces sharing the Vietnam – China border successfully wraps up

On November 28, 2019, in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province, the Supreme People's Procuracy of Vietnam coordinated with the Supreme People's Procuracy of China to hold a the 2ndConference of the People's Procuracy of provinces sharing the Vietnam - China border. Mr. Tran Cong Phan, Deputy General Prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Vietnam and Mr. Truong Tuyet Tieu, Deputy General Prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuracy of China attended and chaired the conference.

Mr. Tran Cong Phan, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Vietnam and Mr. Truong Tuyet Tieu, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy of China signed the Conference minutes on strengthening direct cooperation between the People's Procuracy of provinces sharing the Vietnam - China border.

Attending the conference had Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee; leaders of several units of the Supreme People’s Procuracy; heads of the Hanoi People's Procuracy and leaders of the People's Procuracy in 7 provinces sharing the border with China are Cao Bang, Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Lao Cai and Ha Giang; on the Chinese side, had heads of the People's Procuracy of 2 provinces sharing the border with Vietnam: Guangxi, Yunnan.

Speeching at the opening of the conference, Mr. Tran Cong Phan, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Vietnam affirmed that, Vietnam - China are two neighboring countries, common mountains and rivers. Ho Chi Minh President and Chairman Mao Zedong and generations of leaders of the two countries worked hard to become valuable assets of the two peoples of Vietnam and China. With the motto "friendly neighbors, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability, looking forward to the future" and "good neighbors, good friends, good comrades, good partners", relations of the Supreme People’s Procuracy of two countries hasconstantly developing and achieving many positive results. At the same time insist, in the past years, the Supreme People's Procuracy of the two countries has coordinated to implement well the signed agreements; strictly, fully and effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding signed on April 23th, 2017; this represents the goodwill and determination of both sides in promoting judicial cooperation in the direction of increasingly real and effective.

Mr. Tran Cong Phan assessed that, in the context that transnational organized crime has been growing, the border areas of the two countries have more rugged geographical areas, the criminal situation and law violations on the border line are always potentially complex elements. Therefore, strengthening coordination in the fight against crime and preserving security and order in the border areas is a very important task set out for the People’s Procuracy as well as law enforcement agencies of two countries. At this conference, apart from the field of cooperation in mutual legal assistance activities on criminal matters, the two countries will discuss about cooperation to protect public interests in the field of environment and food safety, pharmaceuticals; this is a matter of great concern to the two countries today ...

Speeching at the conference, Mr. Truong Tuyet Tieu, Deputy Prosecutor General of Supreme People's Procuracy of China affirmed that, China and Vietnam are two countries with long-standing traditional friendship; relations between the judicial agencies of the two countries in general and the Supreme People's Procuracy of the two countries in particular are increasingly strengthened through visits, cooperation and experience exchange ... In particular, On April 23th, 2017, the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy of two countries signed Memorandum of Understanding on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, create favorable conditions for the implementation of the Treat on mutual legal assistance in civil and criminal matters signed between 1988; The cooperation agreement between the two Supreme People's Procuracy was signed in 2012 were also serves as a basis for improving the effectiveness of cooperation between the People's Procuracies of the provinces sharring the border of two countries.

At the conference, representatives of units of the Supreme People's Procuracy, People's Procuracies of provinces sharing the borders of Vietnam and China presenting presentations on issues that the units have strengths in the practice of control as well as proposing many practical cooperation issues in the coming time ...
